Taiji holds dolphin hunt security drill
http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20110728b1.html

Police and coast guardsmen have held a security drill to practice protecting Taiji, Wakayama Prefecture, from protesters during the town's annual dolphin hunt.

A prefectural police official said Wednesday's drill was aimed at guarding the town from protesters before the hunting season starts in September. About 100 law enforcement officers gathered in the bay where the Oscar-winning documentary "The Cove" was filmed.

The exercise involved officers responding to a ship carrying several activists entering the bay and damaging a fishnet. The official said the drill was completed safely and without incident.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons.

Although most Japanese have never eaten dolphin meat, the government defends the hunts as a national tradition and allows about 20,000 dolphins to be caught each year.

1. This year the dolphin meat will have an additional special ingredient
besides the usual mercury. Radiation. Yumm.

I wish this annual hunt would end. It's so cruel.

2. What will it take for the Japanese to respect nature? Does everything have to
be consumed?

3. It's not even "consumption", simply the revelling in bloody slaughter ...
... and their "right" to do so without anyone else daring to complain.

I hope that all of the scum who are involved with the slaughter this
year die horribly in turn.
