What's in a name?
This is a month old. It flew in under the radar, like an armed drone. The Mineral Management Service. which embarrassed the administration before, during and after the Gulf Oil Spil, has been thrown under the bus by Ken Salazar. But its friends in he awl bidness needn't worry. It has surfaced again as Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement. And just to prove to its friends that it hasn't lost its chops, it launched an ethics smear investigation of the guy who noticed that polar bears were drowning.

1. The new name is more accurately reflects the scope and mission of the agency...
Because, in addition to offshore fossil fuel and minerals resource development, the BOEMRE is engaged in research and development of renewable energy technologies, including offshore wind, tide, and current energy generation.
