Environmentalists Protest Construction Over Wetlands (Jacksonville)

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Opponents of new development plans on Jacksonville's Southside have organized a caravan of protesters.

The St. John's Riverkeepers, a non-profit environmental organization say the planned Freedom Commerce Center would destroy 130 acres of wetlands in the Julington and Pottsburg Creeks.

No members of the St. Johns Riverkeepers are allowed to speak at the public hearing of the St. Johns Water Management District Tuesday night.

The activists say that won't keep them from delivering their message, even if they have to deliver it from outside the building. <snip>
