A couple more solar concentrator endeavors.
These Aussies just got their first retail order on their concentrator system:

And Daystar, the CIGS manufacturer, has a microoptics sheet capable of 10 suns concentration for flat-panels -- see bottom of this article.

1. Am I missing something, or was that built out of a dog bowl and...
an old glass lamp shade?

2. Looks like that for sure.
If you read their site, they expect a domestic installation to cost A$ 10,000.

3. Aha, it's also much larger than I thought.
Maybe a dog bowl for Clifford the Big Red Dog.

4. My eyes saw the same thing!
I wondered if it wasn't some funky fashion trend, to make something that looks like crap, kinda like the shabby chic phase!

Then I thought, naaaa...how long could you sell that notion?

The photo is the prototype with the fresnel lenses off.

(On EDIT: but if you specifically want one built out of a dog bowl and an old lampshade I could probably swing it :-) )

6. My architecture instructors are going to die when they see this...
They'll both probably want to buy one. :)

It'd make a great conversational piece for the various classes.
