Well, John, guess you should have thought about that before hugging the Chimp, shouldn't you?
Too little, too late, ASSHOLE.
America was not doing enough to combat climate change, visiting United States Senator John McCain said in Christchurch yesterday. Leading a delegation of fellow Republican senators on a fleeting visit to New Zealand, Mr McCain told reporters he had viewed the effects of climate change both here and in Antarctica.
The delegation of Senators McCain (Arizona), Susan Collins (Maine) and John Sununu (New Hampshire) has been on a fact-finding visit to Antarctica to observe research work on climate and atmosphere. They visited the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station and toured research facilities and scientific sites.
In Christchurch for informal luncheon talks with Foreign Minister Winston Peters and Defence and Trade Minister Phil Goff before returning home, Mr McCain said he had taken a trip to New Zealand's southern glaciers yesterday and it was clear climate change was having an effect here and in Antarctica.
"It's serious and I have been working very hard trying to get the American government to take more concrete steps to combat climate change," he said. "It's happening. We are doing terrible things to future generations all over the world and the longer we wait to address this issue, the more serious the damage is."
