California gasoline production tops 1 million barrels a day

For the first time since December 23, 2005, California refiners produced
an average of more than a million barrels of gasoline a day, according to
the Weekly Fuels Watch Report issued today by the California Energy
Commission.

Production of reformulated gasoline in California refineries averaged
1,003,286 barrels a day for the week ending February 17, 2006, a 4.8
percent increase over the previous week, but 5.0 percent less than
production one year ago. Refinery inventories of reformulated gasoline
declined 4.1 percent from the previous week and were 2.7 percent below
last year
s levels.

Production of California diesel also increased 10.2 percent for the week,
a 9.6 percent increase above last year
s figures. Inventories of California diesel, which fell 8.5 percent from
the week before, were 12.9 percent higher than at this time last year.
