Help with E85. I just found out that my guilt ridden huge SUV can run on |
|
E85, but I have no clue about it. It sounds like a very great alternative to Gasoline, but I'm not sure. I did a quick search of stations in NC, and found the closest one to be in Charlote. I found a website that taught a person how to mix their own. Who knows about this stuff?

1. I thought the vehicle had to be modified to take it |
|
Doesn't E85 eat through certain hoses used for gasoline and maybe even the tank itself? That's what I've heard, anyway.

It eats through the rubber 0 rings in the fuel system.(fuel ports) Years ago there was fuel they called "gasahol" (basically the same stuff) and it didn't last long on the market for this reason.

4. But many SUVs now are built to run on either E85 or gas. |
|
The auto manufacturers just don't publicize the fact, even though the manufacturers get major credits from the government for building the flex-fuel vehicles. It's up to the purchaser to find out if he's bought a flex-fuel vehicle or not.

6. to the end user, the only issue is cost, multiply E85 by 1.39 |
|
E85 hs less enegy than gasoline
multiply the price of E85 by 1.39, compare to the cost of the gas you use
what is the posted price, in your area? if the price is something like 1.80, forget it doyou need premium gas?
all this, is for a flex fuel vehicle, of course,, the compatibility issues were fixed
