are all okay. That is a BIG typhoon. 180 MPH can do incredible, almost unimaginable, damage.

5. There's just something so WRONG about those backwards
hurricanes in the southern hemisphere..............

Does anybody know if it's true about sinks draining and toilets emptying the opposite direction in the southern hemisphere, too? You know, clockwise vs counterclockwise?

9. The whole draining/direction thing for water in sinks/toilets is a myth.
The corialis force is not strong enough to create enough of an effect on such a small scale. The direction of flow is really more determined by the existing angular momentum in the water already.
