1. Sincere question about hemp

I heard a pro-hemp caller to the Thom Hartmann show extolling its virtues, and Hartmann expanded by provided (as he always does) some historical context for why it was outlawed. Not rationalizing why it was outlawed, just explaining why certain groups felt threatening by it.

My question is - and maybe you can answer it for me - if hemp is this fabulous, and this much a potential boon to an economy, are any other countries where it's not so suppressed that are enjoying all its benefits?

I am totally neutral on the issue. I don't smoke marijuana, but my SO does, and I worry about losing our car if he gets pulled over after visiting his supplier. That is NO way to live in a "free" country, so I really resent the current laws, especially those allowing confiscation of property, but that's another thread.

We will do some research and make our own documentary. It will take a lot of research, though, a whole lot of research. Especially when it comes to differentiating between the different species of cannabis and hemp like plants.

on edit, I was being a smartass to shred, I really don't know the answer to the question posed by Patoid. I have some hemp clothing that is fabulous, notably a hemp denim jacket from Patagonia that has been virtually indestructible. Hemp makes wonderful fabric that is tough and durable. It was great for America during the Second World War.

I've heard it described as a potential economic miracle crop, were it so ruthlessly surpressed.

5. supposedly....

The first cars off the assembly line for Ford had door panels built from refined hemp, and were ten times stronger than steel. Also, there was a couple of years in our early history where it was actually against the law NOT to grow hemp. You can thank Dupont, willing government dupes, and greed for the status of the "Devil Weed".:evilfrown: Thanks.
