Fish killed as soft drink leaks from factory
I just thought I'd share this because while a manufacturing plant leak and fish kill isn't really uncommon news, the photo accompanying the story is really quite shocking.

"It has become a big no-no in school lunchboxes because of its unhealthy reputation.

But it seems that Sunny D, formerly known as Sunny Delight, is not half as bad for children as it is for fish.

Around 8,000 litres of concentrate used to make the drink leaked into a watercourse on Wednesday morning, turning the river bright yellow.

Dozens of fish were found floating on the surface, poisoned by the lurid mixture." The story continues at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=386878&in_page_id=1770

1. Concentrate isn't the same stuff even humans drink.
The effect is not a surprise and doesn't suggest any special toxicity.

2. I'm not suggesting that it is
Just that a bright orange waterway is a shocking and unnatural thing and I found the photo a bit disturbing.

Well, and that the company spokesman who called that sugary crap "juice" ought to be flogged.

5. If you're a fish trying to breath it, instead of water,
it's toxic.

6. Geez, people didn't read the "special" I put before "toxicity"
Not like it's a big deal to me but, everyone's eyes skipped that word it looks like.

7. I was gonna say
While it's hardly good that this leak happened and killed all these fish, the fact that it killed them is hardly a surprise.

I wouldn't want to inhale Sunny D myself.
