1. Yes there was.
Tornados can and do strike anywhere just about in North America that isn't desert or artic. They are just more rare without the Gulf moisture and Canadian air that trigger most.

2. We get them up here from time to time.

Last one I remember though was almost a decade ago in Great Barrington, MA, that came and wrecked all the rich folk's expensively manicured hedges. We may have had a couple more today but there's apparently not much in the way of being able to confirm such things stationed out here.

Weather sure has been something lately. Right here where I am it's been fog for two days solid.

4. did more than wreck rich people's hedges...
destroyed a friend's (poor person) home.... killed a person in a car.... scared my children nearly to death since it came within a quarter mile of their Dad's house and they were there.
No, we are not rich...
your post was a little bit "flip" for me.
Were you there?
DB in Great Barrington Massachusetts...

5. Oh I was just bitching...

...because of the news articles where they were whining about their hedges and associated monetary damage. You would've thunk from all the screeching the hedge owners did that that was the most important effect of the tornado, which as you point out, did some real damage.

So I wasn't intending on being flip -- just wry.
