Venezuela official: $100 a barrel possibleBy Natalie Obiko Pearson, AP Business Writer | July 28, 2006
CARACAS, Venezuela --Venezuelan Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez said that oil prices
could reach $100 a barrel.
In comments to Latin American TV station Telesur aired late Thursday, Ramirez said
prices were still relatively lower today in real terms than they were during the oil
crisis of the 1970s, but that could change.
"The prices we are seeing today are in today's dollars," Ramirez said. "For us to have
the same amount of revenues that we had in 1970, '74, you'd have to put the oil price
close to $100 a barrel."
"They could reach that (level) given certain factors," he said.
