NASCAR and motor oil
I'm cross-posting this in the Lounge, but I need to know how NASCAR (and/or any other racing group) recycle the doubtless huge quantities of motor oil used in the sport. Hopefully they do recycle...

Does anyone know or have any resources I could investigate? Thanks.

1. When it comes to racing, We're Big Fans!
Edited on Sun Sep-24-06 01:44 PM by acmejack
We're Big Fans! You'll see our SK logo on the race cars, drivers, crew uniforms, and transport trucks. You'll see our signage at the events, you'll find us in race programs across the country; you may even find us on one of the many televised racing programs. Anywhere there's professional racing, there's Safety-Kleen collecting the waste oil, oil filters, and brake fluid.

Safety-Kleen helps every major racing circuit manage its environmental services, including NASCAR, IRL, Champ Car and NHRA. In fact, we provide environmental services for 60 race tracks and 80 race teams, proof that the best in business trust Safety-Kleen.

Safety-Kleen is the nation’s largest recovery and recycling company for used oil products, and re-refines approximately 160,000,000 gallons of used motor oil every year. The Company is able to leverage its nationwide collection network, and the largest re-refinery capacity in North America, to offer customers the Environmental Protection Agency’s preferred option for managing used oil: re-refining for future use.

Safety-Kleen is the official trackside environmental service provider for all major venues of the NASCAR Nextel Cup, Busch Grand National, Craftsman Truck, IROC, Indy Racing League and Champ Car series race tracks.

2. Kudos To You, Safety-Kleen!
My husband's a big IRL fan - grew up in Indianapolis. I'm sure he'll appreciate hearing about this. :yourock:

4. Why is this sport even allowed?
Those things are complete gas guzzlers, and they encourage people to covet gas guzzling cars.

But... an all electric/ethanol/biodiesel NASCAR might be a good idea.
