CWT Garbage into Oil plant still drawing Global Attention.
http://www.carthagepress.com/articles/2006/10/24/news/01%20res.txt

An Australian magazine titled “Cosmos,” the science of everything, produced an intriguing article — “From Guts to Glory, Turning Waste Into Oil.”

...

Gabriel Miller, a New York University chemistry professor and consultant, heaped the most praise on the technology and its results. “The fuel that comes out is better than crude, and you don't need a refinery to use it,” Miller said. “I think they can bring it deep into commercialization.”

...

“There is no reason why we can't turn sewage, including human excrement, into glorious oil,” he said.

...

Terry Adams, chief technology officer for Changing World Technologies — RES' parent company, said the whole process is efficient. He said only 15 percent of the potential energy in the feedstock is used to power the operation; 85 percent of the energy is in the output of oil and its byproducts.

2. They use waste from turkey plants.
Edited on Thu Oct-26-06 08:15 PM by suziedemocrat
They don't raise animals just to turn them into oil. (Someone was confused about that on another thread about this a few months back.) And this keeps the "waste" from being turned into feed and given to other animals, sometimes of the same species and making them cannibals - which is horrible, but it is routinely done today and it is why they have to pay for the turkey "waste". This practice has been out-lawed in the EU because of Mad Cow Disease, which is why these plants would be more profitable in Europe - no need to pay for waste since in Europe it can't be used as feed.

Thanks for the Vote!!!

5. I'm actually a vegetarian. But I'm fascinated by this process.
I wish my town would convert their sewage plant into one of these plants to create oil. I hope this ends up being everything they promise!
