Vermont's use of renewable electricity almost doubles from 1990 to 2004.
Vermont's use of non-hydro renewable energy almost doubled in the period 1990 to 2004, rising from 4.6% to 8.0%. In that same period, the use of fossil fuels in percentage terms in Vermont, remained nearly constant, rising by 0.1% or one part in 1000. All of the fossil fuel used to generate electricity in Vermont is petroleum.

Conservation is also a Vermont success story, with actual use of electricity in absolute terms decreasing.

The share provided by nuclear power rose in Vermont from 44.7% in 1990 to 50.7% in 2004.

The balance is all represented by hydroelectric power.

Vermont - home to the Chairman of the Democratic Party - is my kind of energy state.

2. Dr. Dean comes from a progressive state. We need that spread
liberally throughout this country-ASAP!

3. I neglected that total reliance on fossil fuels of electricity was 10.7% in 2004.
That's up from 10.6%. All of this was petroleum. They must have diesels up there that kick in whenever they're short. These diesels could, in theory, switch to biodiesel or to DME at some point in the future. In this way they could be totally renewable/nuclear.

4. I have been keeping a file on renewable
energy alternatives. If we put the same energy and excitement into getting off of the oil habit as we did going to the Moon in the 60's the US could cut loose alot of foreign entanglements.
