McLennan County, TX (Waco) Wants Air, Ozone Monitors In Place Before Voting On TXU Plan
You mean, they're not monitoring air quality now? :silly:

McLennan County Commissioners want to monitor local air and ozone levels in the wake of proposed plans by T.X.U. to build some coal-fired power plants. They want to determine air quality before any facility is built. This comes after residents voiced concerns about pollution at the commissioners meeting Tuesday.

McLennan County Commissioner Lester Gibson said, "McLennan county is concerned about the adverse affects the proposed plants could have on the local environment.” McLennan County Commissioners spent a good chunk of Tuesdays meeting talking about what seems inevitable, more plants providing more energy to the state's growing population.

Lewis Pulley lives in Precinct 2, where all four coal plants could be built. He's concerned about the air quality. "It's a health hazard. And when you lose your health you don't have anything at all. money can't even buy it." The commissioners originally supported one plant, but T.X.U. increased its plan four. the Texas commission on Environmental Quality says the air quality around Waco is good, but commissioners want to test it for themselves.

1. Like everything else, they defanged this agency under W .
Remember he was Governor here before he was p(R)esident. At one time we had a pretty good Air Control Board, but GW took care of a lot of our State Agencies.
