Shanghai - Warmest Autumn In 134 Years
Beijing, Dec 10. (PTI): Shanghai, China's largest city and commercial hub, has been experiencing its warmest autumn in more than 134 years, the state media reported on Saturday.

The city reported an average temperature of 20.8 Celsius degrees between September and November, 2.3 degrees up than previous years, breaking the 134 year old record, the Shanghai Municipal Meteorological Bureau said.

The bureau attributes the rise in temperature mainly to global warming, noting that Shanghai has seen increasingly higher autumn temperatures over the past decade.

On Wednesday, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) had announced that the country has experienced its warmest autumn for 55 years with its average temperature 1.6 degrees Celsius higher than normal, signalling global warming. The 1.6 degrees rise has broken the record temperature rise since 1951, assistant director-general of disaster relief with CMA, Zhang Qiang said.
