Driest Year On Record In Perth - Western Australia - AAP
PERTH has recorded it's driest year on record. The 2006 rainfall is just 466.8mm, beating the previous record low of 508.7mm set in 1940.

Our average yearly rainfall is 859mm.

Perth had the driest June on record and the second driest autumn.

Bureau of Meteorology climate information officer John Relf said there had been a huge decline in rainfall compared with previous years.

1. We went nearly two years with virtually NO rain here in So Cal
a few years ago.

Then last year we came within a hair's breadth of breaking the all time high record for rainfall. We don't ever have any "average" years either - just feast or famine.
