1. They would have sold more...
But they sold all they could make! There is a waiting list into next year at this time. If you want a Prius NOW, you will have to expect to pay at least $2000 in additional dealer markup IF you can find one.

2. Now if they would just run some ADS
Come on, if any other car had one Car of the Year, you know it'd be on tv every 5 minutes. Hurry up, Toyota...

3. You guys might not like this,
I hope gas prices stay high so that people buy more hybrid vehicles.

Also, we can move towards a hydrogen economy.

10. And where will the hydrogen come from?
Where do you think we'll get the energy to make enough hydrogen to replace our transportation network?

8. No need to run ANY ads.
Why on earth would you waste money advertising a product that you cannot make enough of?

Literally, they have sold their entire production through next year already.

The vehicles are in such demand that, when somebody defaults on an order for a vehicle, the dealers are able to mark up the car several thousand dollars and still move it right out. Most dealerships have sold their demo units already, and do not even have one for you to look at in the showroom.

I own a 2002 Prius that now has 28,000 miles on it and I love it! A great car. And I hear that the 2004s are even better.

4. I tried
I wanted to by a Prius 2 months ago when my lease was up on my Jeep. They had a 10 month waiting list, even though they've doubled production twice in the last year.

6. WHY WHY WHY
Do they have to make high gas milage cars look weird? If it just looked like a normal car, they would sell like crazy. Everyone would have one, and I know the point of this thread was that they WERE selling well, but I stand by my question.

7. NYMEX crude cracked $39 a barrel today
Expect longer waiting times for Japanese hybrid cars.

And don't hold your breath for one from Detroit....
