Sandy Riess has watched three of her dogs die in the past six months.
Sailor, a 7-year-old Newfoundland, died in December of undetermined causes. Four months later, two Saint Bernards, Oscar and Siren, ages 10 and 11, succumbed to bone cancer within a week of each another.
Now Riess and her attorney, Mark Sargis, are asking questions - and they believe the answers could be buried deep in Riess' yard in West Chicago.
"These were her kids, basically," Sargis said of the dogs. "At this point, there isn't any information to link this to anything. Bone cancer is not uncommon, but it's an open question."
