7% Of Canadian Teenagers Believe Their Govt. Tries To Make A Difference - Environment Chief Concern
Canadian teens are giving the government a failing grade on the environment, according to a new survey. They don't believe politicians are living up to the 'practise what you preach' philosophy, according to an Ipsos Reid survey commissioned by Canon Canada.

Only seven per cent of teenagers surveyed believe Canada's leaders are truly trying to make a difference. And 52 per cent feel politicians don't pay enough attention to the environment.

The survey results sound accurate to Rick Epp, a Grade 12 student at Ridgeway-Crystal Beach High School in Fort Erie. "Politicians are definitely not doing enough," he said. "The attitude is kind of like, 'Let's not worry about it now, we'll worry about it later.'"

He said he was disappointed by the Conservative government's move to back out of the Kyoto Protocol and its decision to cut the One-Tonne Challenge aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions. "With that cut in education, now people won't be as knowledgeable and if you're ignorant to the problem how will you know how to fix it?" Epp asked.
