The G8 Speaks On Climate: Members Will "Seriously Consider" Plan To Cut Emissions By 2050 - AFP
Well whoop-dee-fucking-doo.

Climate change campaigners Thursday slammed a Group of Eight leaders' agreement on greenhouse gas emissions as "weak", saying it failed to commit to serious reduction targets.

The pledge at the G8 summit here to "seriously consider" a target of cutting climate-changing gases by at least half by 2050 was hailed as a "major step forward" by British Prime Minister Tony Blair, while German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she was "very satisfied".

But environmental groups said both leaders were simply putting a brave face on an accord that had been largely neutered by the United States by blocking mandatory limits on emissions.

"Chancellor Merkel and Prime Minister Blair are trying to portray this as a strong agreement. But President Bush didn't give them an inch," said Philip Clapp, president of the US National Environmental Trust. "The best they could get from him was a statement that their 50 percent-by-2050 emissions reduction proposal would be 'seriously considered'. That's a pretty tiny landmark."

7. Yes, but more importantly ...
... 2050 is a date that is well beyond the lifetime or any of them ...
... in other words:

THEY DON'T GIVE A FUCK AS IT'S NOT GOING TO AFFECT THEM PERSONALLY.

4. You've got to be kidding me!
By that time there won't be any emissions to cut! We'll either be living in an ice age or living on floats in the water.

These fucks need to have what passes for their brains examined! I'm so disgusted - there are no words.

6. Good
The G8 is not our friend.

"the eight most industrialised nations"

And this is why. They are organized to keep business going as usual. Why would they do a goddamn thing to give power away? They didn't become what they are by doing so. They're not going to start now. To expect anything else from the G8 would be...be...what's crazier than insane?
