How plants are near perfect at using solar energy
Apparently they employ a form of quantum computing. Not in a sense that there's a programmer but new research from UC-Berkeley suggests that they exploit the Bizzaro World of quantum mechanics to achieve near 100% efficiency.

From Scientific American:

Employing this process allows the near-perfect efficiency of plants in harvesting energy from sunlight and is likely to be used by all of them, Engel says. It might also be copied usefully by researchers attempting to create artificial photosynthesis, such as that in photovoltaic cells for generating electricity."
