Mercosur backs Bolivian political process
Latin American leaders participating in the 28th Summit of the Common Market of the South (Mercosur) in the Paraguayan capital of Asuncion Monday voiced their support for the political process in Bolivia and for new Bolivian President Eduardo Rodriguez, reports from Asuncion said.

"There is firm and solidary support for the democratic strengthening process in Bolivia, the effort made by the people and government of that country," said a final document of the summit.

Bolivian Foreign Minister Armando Loaysa thanked "the support and solidarity of Mercosur" in defense of the democracy of Bolivia, the reports said.
