Sudan Rebel Chief, Government in 3rd Day of Talks
From the bottom:

The war in Sudan broke out in 1983 and pits the Islamist government in the north against rebels seeking more
autonomy in the south, where Christianity and animist beliefs dominate.

Garang reiterated on Thursday that the major issues of disagreement were how to carve up power, including
the presidency and wealth -- especially oil.

He said other problems included security and three areas of conflict -- Abyei, the Nuba Mountains and
Southern Nile, claimed by both sides.

Sounds like some sort of federal system.
