Scholars warn against Communist menace - in Taiwan
PRC's aggressive military buildup construed as betraying Asian values, threatening world.

Two American scholars at a symposium in Taipei yesterday said that the world should be on guard against mainland China and North Korea because of their repressive governments.

Joseph Bosco, a professor at Georgetown University, in Washington D.C., told participants at the Democratic Pacific Assembly, which is underway in Taipei, that Beijing's new government headed by leaders of a younger generation is repressing its people as much as the regimes in Cuba, North Korea and the former North Vietnam.

Calling the People's Republic of China a threat to the security of not only Taiwan but the world, Bosco said Beijing has betrayed Asian values as displayed by Taiwan and Japan by its belligerence, which is evident in its aggressive military buildup, deployment of missiles, support for North Korea's nuclear program, and sales of weapons to terrorists.

I don't know these 2 guys but I'm sure they're part of the GOP Crime Family.

1, America's aggressive military buildup is more than the total of the next richest 25 countries combined.

2. America just illegally slaughtered 40,000 people in Iraq in a lie.

3. If you went to China you'd actually see it's more free than America. If you dispute this then I can say you've obviously never been to China. You can do anything you want. There's no one around who will fine you or give you a ticket no matter what you do.

(I know nothing about N. Korea.)

1. Totally agree.
In the South, I've never seen any military presence....never. This is total bullshit. Are sabers being rattled aginst China now? We are the most militaristic society in the world. Our military budget is larger than the next 20 largest combined.

Maybe if we worry about our own country and start to deescalate our military budget, the rest of the world wouldn't need to escalate theirs.

I've walked the streets of Zhongshan at 3:00 in the morning and I feel safer there then in comparable US cities. It is a relatively free and peaceful society.

3. There is a Communist menace in Taiwan
At least according to the thinking of conservatives. Taiwan instituted Single Payer Health Insurance in 1998.

6. I don't see it...
I see a HUGE fascist menace in Taiwan, but not a communist one. It's all propaganda from the GOP, the CCP, and the Pan-Blue camp.

Tom DeLay claims to support Taiwan, but unlike Nancy Pelosi or Bernie Sanders, would do anything to return Taiwan to fascism.

We got "sex slaves", terrorists, the drug war, nuclear

5. Of course there's a Communist menace!
You never know when you might get crushed under a statue of Lenin being toppled by Latvians wearing Guess jeans!
