London's infrastructure failing warns City mayor
LONDON (Reuters) - Power blackouts, train failures and grid-locked traffic are threatening to drive business away from London, Europe's financial capital, the unelected Lord Mayor of the City of London financial district says.

In a speech to business leaders on Tuesday, Lord Mayor Gavyn Arthur warned of a "malaise gripping the whole of London's infrastructure".

He cited a recent power black-out, the derailment of a train, the closure of one of the main lines of the London Underground system and problems with water supplies as evidence that the city's infrastructure was crumbling.

"Let's be honest, all is not well," he said.

He said London's infrastructure "seems to be failing week by week, month by month. And the situation seems to be getting worse".
