Terror bill: Cosatu up in arms - SA - to please Bush
Johannesburg - The Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) will raise soon to be enacted anti-terrorism legislation at the National Economic Development and Labour Council (Nedlac), union general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi said on Thursday.

The union is also considering Constitutional Court action should its bid in Nedlac fail.

"On this one, there will be blood on the floor," Vavi told reporters in Johannesburg following a meeting of Cosatu's central executive committee.

"We are not going to fold our arms when our hard won rights are taken away," he said.

Cosatu would protest against the legislation even if it meant doing so on the eve of the elections.

He said the "draconian law which goes to the very foundation of our freedom" would deny Cosatu members the right to protest if it was passed in its current form.

"We believe this is a piece of legislation which is pushed to please (US President George) Bush."
