IRISH MP SACKED FOR SMOKING

The career of a top member of the Irish Parliament has been left in ashes after he was sacked for breaking the country's new smoking ban.

Fine Gael justice spokesman John Deasy lit the offending cigarette in the parliamentary members' bar on Tuesday - just one day after smoking in public places was outlawed.

Party leader Enda Kenny later summoned Mr Deasy, but the smoking politician failed to show up to a meeting.
