Telkom can't explain its tariffs - SA
By Sheena Adams

Telkom's boasts to Parliament on Friday about its huge profits came back to haunt it when MPs criticised the company for exploiting the public.

MPs from all parties said Telkom was charging prices that were higher than international norms.

Telkom executives were unable to account for the pricing tariffs on Friday, but promised to come back to Parliament with more information.

They were appearing before the ad hoc committee on communications.

I saw the same thing in Taiwan years ago when the Fascist KMT owned everything. Their rates were 6 times higher than the US but the land/service area was .00001% the size of America but had the entire service population squeezed in this small area. TW had no underground wires everything was hung in the streets, and tidiness was NOT a concern.
