Gauhati - Bomb and gun attacks continued in north-eastern India for a second day on Sunday as a blast at a crowded market wounded 15 people.
Police blamed the violence, which left 50 dead and more than 100 wounded, on separatist rebels.
Troops patrolled the streets in Nagaland state to prevent further bloodshed, while in western Assam state insurgents bombed an electrical tower, a local shop and a state-run gas pipeline.
The violence across the two states was some of the deadliest to hit the ethnic patchwork region, where more than three dozen insurgent groups have been active - including one of Asia's longest running separatist conflicts, dating to shortly before India gained independence from Britain in 1947.
