India reeling after series of explosions
Another little long-standing independence movement. Have not
heard much news from NE India lately.

Guwahati - A series of bomb blasts killed 19 people and wounded more than 50 in north-eastern India on Saturday in the deadliest attack since a ceasefire with the main separatist group in Nagaland began seven years ago.

Another bomb exploded in the neighbouring state of Assam, killing one man at about the same time.

Police said the two attacks appeared to be unrelated.

Two bombs exploded in a marketplace in Nagaland's commercial centre, Dimapur, and one at a crowded railway

1. New bomb blast rocks India as violence rages
Gauhati - Bomb and gun attacks continued in north-eastern India for a second day on Sunday as a blast at a crowded market wounded 15 people.

Police blamed the violence, which left 50 dead and more than 100 wounded, on separatist rebels.

Troops patrolled the streets in Nagaland state to prevent further bloodshed, while in western Assam state insurgents bombed an electrical tower, a local shop and a state-run gas pipeline.

The violence across the two states was some of the deadliest to hit the ethnic patchwork region, where more than three dozen insurgent groups have been active - including one of Asia's longest running separatist conflicts, dating to shortly before India gained independence from Britain in 1947.
