Althea taking shape (EU replacing Nato forces in Bosnia Herzegovina)

The Swedish Riksdag today voted unanimously to contribute armed forces to the European military task force "Althea", replacing SFOR in the Area. The total size involve a force of about 7,000, comprising three units. The Swedish force are to be part of a northern force of about 1,200 soldiers, from about ten countries. The Swedish force will consist of 70-210 soldiers depending on the security situation.

Finland is preparing to send a force of 200 and is awaiting approval by the Finnish Parliament.
