Typhoon Nock-Ten roars toward southern Taiwan
With Typhoon Nock-Ten steadily plowing its way toward Taiwan, the Central Weather Bureau was yesterday set to issue sea and land warnings and warned of torrential rain and stronger winds in the north and the east of the country starting today.

"We are monitoring the path of the storm. If it moves to the north and gathers force, we expect it to make landfall on Taiwan on Monday or Tuesday," a forecaster said.

The bureau also alerted residents in mountainous areas to mudslides that could be triggered by downpours.
