Expect 'Barrage' of Concealed Gun Requests

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department is bracing for a "barrage" of requests from people wanting permits to carry concealed firearms under a new state law.
The measure, passed last week by the general assembly over Gov. Bob Holden's veto, is set to take effect Saturday, Oct. 11. That means the earliest day to apply would be Monday, Oct. 13.

The Missouri Sheriffs Association is working to come up with a standard process for handling applications. Sheriffs throughout the state will have the burden of processing the requests.


Statewide, it is estimated that 60,000 citizens will seek concealed carry permits.

Toelke said he doesn't have a good idea on the number of people who will apply for permits here. But as of Friday, he said his office already had received "20-plus" phone inquiries, along with 14 or 15 people who came into the office requesting permit forms.

I'm proud you think I'm a "neurotic" for buying my first handgun for use with my evil CCW permit after seeing daily news stories like this one(Arab-Americans Feel Backlash) and feeling concern for my safety.

7. Cops don't normally hand out gun permits

that is what the civilians that work in PD's do. A sworn cop has never issued me a permit.
