It was on in about 1989 or 1990. They have never rerun it in an xmas special, although it was their best ever holiday thingy. Do not peeve the 12-stepping crowd; they'll self-righteous and guilt you to death and pelt you with slogans, I imagine. If yer not familiar with the annoying buggers and their working the program, you won't get the joke:

Anyhow, there they are in the bar, and when they get to the Fifth Step of Christmas, David Crosby (the real article) sings: "Make a list of all the people you have accidentally shot!"

Write to SNL and clamour for it. I keep meaning to.

16. aargh - would you believe?

I just went glazed-eyed through lists of about 150 things that showed up on a search for "christmas" -- and as far as I can tell, they have every time the word "christmas" was spoken on the show, but NOT my favourite sketch.

Reminds me of my father's According to Hoyle, the book of card game rules, which is older than I am. The Criminal Code of Canada makes it illegal to play three-card monte. I was always curious, when I was a law student and ran across this, to know what three-card monte might be. (It's a variant on a shell game, from what I can tell.)

So one day years later when I found myself in the room with the Hoyle's, I looked it up. There it was in the index ... but on the page where it was supposed to be, there it wasn't. And not on any other page in the book, either. Coincidence? I think ... so.

Anyhow, I'm pretty sure that someone has buried the Betty Ford Xmas somewhere it will never be found.
