Gun "Crazies" Face Political Party Affiliation Crisis
With legislation being sponsored by Democrats such as this, http://mlis.state.md.us/2008RS/bills/hb/hb0002f.pdf, what will the Gun "Crazies" do for a political party to support.

“Will there be more guns?” asked the sponsor of HB2, Del. Dan Riley, a Harford County Democrat. There will be, but “those guns will be in the right hands.”

1. Good. Democrats are coming around.
Dems are finally waking up to Bill Clinton's words - gun control and gun restrictions are a good way for Dems to lose election after election.

The more Dems support gun rights (a LIBERAL value if there ever was one), the less power the Rethuglicans have - "The Dems'll take yer guns!" is a good way to rile up their base. If Dems take ownership of it, it is a good way to shove them out of power.

3. Glad to see a Democrat pushing this.
Gives good rebuttal to those who say this is solely the party of gun-grabbers.

4. Don't you think you're being judgmental?
Don't you think that's a bit judgmental, to call all gun owners mentally-unfit? Does that include soldiers, veterans, game wardens, park rangers, police officers, National Guardsman, hunters, etc.?

Take a look at this video from Penn & Teller (it is astounding how sharp these guys are; perhaps we should consider electing more comedians to office...), especially at 0:30, 3:40, and a great summary at 8:10.

BTW, I don't own a gun, but I think it's absolutely insane for citizens to give up a constitutional right, that was so important to the authors of the constitution, that they made it the Second Amendment. Remember, they lived in a much different political climate, but it wasn't so long ago (American was still segregated less than 50 years ago).

Basic idea, guns were made a fundamental part of the Constitution, because who keeps an eye on our "guardians"? It's not paranoia; governments are mutable, and sometimes they change for the worse. America is well-off relative to the rest of the world, but are we so naive to think we are perfect and untouchable? If something unthinkable like the crises in Rowanda or Sudan even happened here, you'd run straight for that WWII Veteran "Crazy's" house...

Regards,

DAS

5. Slow down down there big boy...
I should have emphasized the sarcasm a bit clearer.

Look at the subject line. The "Crazies" I refer to are those who are the anti-gun crazies that are judgmental towards all gun owners and guns in general.

You would be HARD PRESSED to find another on this board that believes in and defends the 2nd amendment and BOR more than I do. I am a veteran and a hunter and an avid shooter!!!

If something unthinkable like the crises in Rowanda or Sudan ever happened here, run to MY house, I've got enough firearms and ammo to outfit a dozen or more people!!!!!!

6. Fair enough, but the sacrasm could have been emphasized a bit more... ; )
You should watch the video anyway then, you'll enjoy it. I just happened across these the other day, they make some really good points, on this and a lot of other issues. But then again, I guess that's what happens when someone is free to follow their hearts/mind, and not pander to a bunch of pesky voters...
