Daly of Chicago calls "Gun Summit" for 1:00 p.m. today...
Funny, my guns weren't invited.

Expected to attend, "Father" Pfleger. This individual, some would claim, last year threatened a gun shop owner during a demonstration in front of the business.

See: WGN Chicago News.

When fascism comes it will be wrapped in a flag and wearing a cross.

They got half of it right.

2. News Flash - We Need More Gun Laws
Daley has assembled the usual suspects for this predictable press event. His summit is just a chance to take the focus off him and spread the blame around when it doesn't work.

The funny thing is the local media are rebroadcasting his 1992 Gun Violence Summit, showing his speech about "doing something about gun violence". He even had the same cast of characters, Pfleger and his last Police Chief, an assortment of community ministers and activists that was going to solve all the problem. The new guy, Jody Weiss (sp?), is a former FBI guys that came in and fired all the Disrict Commanders and the Police Spokesperson. Daley has set him up for a major fall when nothing changes.

After that summit he got another round of bans passed in Chicago and Cook County (Assault Weapons, 10 round magazine bans etc). This time around gun owners are pushing back. He can pass and enforce all the gun bans he wants in Chicago and Crook County, but leave the rest of us alone. Between him and Blago's shennanigans the Downstate Dems have no trust or belief in anything these guys say or do.

The last straw was when they siphoned school funding and infrastructure maintenance money from the rest of the state to fund his CTA budget shortfall after several CTA managers had been convicted of fraud and bribe taking.

But the inescapable reality is he's been doing the exact same thing for over 16 years and the violence is still on the streets and the gangs have as much or more sway in the communities as they ever have had. Even his normal media lackeys are noticing the irony of it all.

Even the local media are already saying what the results will be, ... we need more "common sense" gun laws for the entire state.

Even the Cook County Sherriff, Tom Dart, admitted in an interview this week that more gun laws are not the answer to the criminal violence in Chicago. Daley will have to get rid of him now.

7. Sarcasm
I don't know how to use the smilies so I left the sarcasm tag off. After you're here for a while you'll know at a glance who is pro gun rights and who isn't and who to ignore.

I've lived with Daley's lies and law breaking for most of my adult life.

He has no shame and no respect for any government agencies or the law.

He ignored FAA directives and court orders and bulldozed an active airport in the middle of the night, stranding aircraft, because he and his wife wanted a park where Meig's field used to be. Their new home was in the approach and I guess it was too noisy.

He was fined for disobeying the court order and paid it with tax money since it was "The City of Chicago" at fault, then raised property taxes. He decided to expand O'Hare field and annexed a big chunk of Bensensville, a neighboring town in Cook County and basically expanded his empire at the cost of another municipality. That one is still in the courts, but he's bulldozing everything around the remaining homes to make the people there as miserable as he can to try and force them to move out.

located above the subject line of a new post. They are called "smilies lookup table" and highlighted in blue.:P After you find the one you like on the table just click it, then close the table.

5. when the gun-heads and right-wingers hate you this much

(just gotta google Pfleger's name, and ask Bill O'Reilly), you know you're doing a whole lot of something right.

Pfleger's 17-yr-old adopted son was murdered by firearm 10 years ago.

Now who's gonna be the first to say he was a gang-banger, not a child, and should be summarily dismissed from the statistics?

8. tooooo predictable

The only question was who was going to be the first. I had a ltitle bet with myself.

Compare and contrast:

(a) murdered by firearm
(b) murdered by a firearm

and then check to see which one was in my post.

If you're still having difficulty, I believe the remedial reading course should still be available.

12. You must be a big reader of Henry David Thoreau who once penned
"I contradict myself? Very well then, I contradict myself."

Makes it a lot easier to go through life as a hypocrite.

I personally prefer Samuel Langhorne Clemens who penned: "I find honesty is indeed the best policy, that way I don't have to remember what I said, and to whom, or when."

Who the fuck cares how the gun was possessed? Really -- who the fuck cares? What is your point? Are you proposing something that would reduce illegal access to firearms and thus predictably prevent deaths like this? Didn't think so. So I assume you're yammering to hear yourself yammer. Have a picnic.

He was killed by someone in illegal possession of a firearm.
Oh dear, too bad, so sad.
Now let's get back to whining about how us, 'cause us is all that actually matters.

"Who the fuck cares how the gun was possessed? Really -- who the fuck cares?"
well- i do....knowing how the gun was possessed allows us to better understand the situation- and to better evaluate it so that we can see what could have been done to prevent it.

because maybe the laws that he is pushing wouldnt have done a damn thing to prevent his son's death...but i dont know...im not sure under what circumstances his son was shot.

You may, but i don't like bashing through the door guns'a'blazin

How bleeding difficult is it to inform one's self, in this day and internet age, before speaking?

The son was killed by a stray bullet believed to have been fired by a gang-involved individual.

Since it happened in Chicago, and it was presumably a handgun, I would guess that it was kind of by definition illegally owned.

That would not mean it was illegally acquired even by the individual who fired it, of course.

29. Oooooh

I think in another time and place the term was "Kaffirs".

Of course, close to your home, "savages" does have a tradition of its own, when it comes to groups of people being hunted down and murdered ...

Gosh.

All that crime, we are constantly being told here, is the result of poverty and deprivation and an absence of mental health care ... nothing at all to do with access to firearms.

And all the victims of the poverty and deprivation and mental health care, who end up doing what we're incessly told that those phenomena lead to people doing, need to be hunted down and killed.

How do you people sleep at night with your heads spinning like that?
