Austin, Tx Gun Sales Up: "Thank the Democrats" sez Austin Statesman
http://www.statesman.com/news/content/news/stories/local/07/29/0729guns.html

Big piece yesterday in the Austin Statesman about strong gun sales in Austin, TX area. I like what Ray Curtis of Tex-Guns (where I shop) has to say about Congressional priorities.

1. Definition of "Texas Democrats"...
People who don't agree with the Republican Party 100% of the time.

3. Well, I think I know what you were referring to.
Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between Democratic Underground and Free Republic. This is one of those times.

6. Only if you think being pro-choice on gun ownership makes one a freeper...

A majority of Dems and indies disagree with you on the gun issue. You are certainly entitled to your opinions on the issue, and we who disagree are just as entitled to ours.

My opinions on abortion, civil unions, censorship, warrantless searches, health care, social safety nets, progressive tax systems, Bush, McBush, and theocrats would get me kicked out of freeperland, thanks. The word "progressive" is not a synonym for "gun-control activist," as much as some might like to make it so.

7. Its the "Dems want to take your guns" meme...
Its the "Dems want to take your guns" meme rearing its ugly head again.

Who is responsible for getting that one rolling? :sarcasm: :eyes:

In time, most sensible people will come to understand who is responsible for it, and reqard those who were/are accordingly.

That snowball is already rolling and has grown much in the last couple years.

I'd estimate that the gun banners have maybe a couple years left at best, before most reasonable people know them for what they are, what they did, and view them as loons incompatible with the mainstream in America.

Me, I'd say they should enjoy the little credibility they have while it lasts, before its completely gone.

8. who is responsible? DNC.... look in the mirror
Who is the idiot that put this on page 47 of the 2008 Democratic Party platform?

11 Firearms
12 We recognize that the right to bear arms is an important part of the American tradition,
13 and we will preserve Americans’ continued Second Amendment right to own and use
14 firearms. We believe that the right to own firearms is subject to reasonable regulation, but
15 we know that what works in Chicago may not work in Cheyenne. We can work together
16 to enact and enforce common-sense laws and improvements, like closing the gun show
17 loophole, improving our background check system and reinstating the assault weapons
18 ban, so that guns do not fall into the hands of terrorists or criminals. Acting responsibly
19 and with respect for differing views on this issue, we can both protect the constitutional
20 right to bear arms and keep our communities and our children safe.

and this list of Democrats in Congress who signed on to the AW ban??

We are giving them the rope they will use to hang us!! The platform MUST include a clear and unequivocating pro-Second Amendment plank. This weasel-worded tripe gets us nothing, and fools no one. It is,in fact, this hollow support for RKBA opening line which is completely undermined by the text, that over the past 40 years it has gotten so folks believe "sunny day"or "dusty roads", "gun-grabbing Democrats" are perfectly natural descriptions.
