She picked up her .32 revolver and pointed it at the door, waiting for two men on the other side to burst through.

As the door gave and two men emerged, she pulled the trigger.

1. Shes an idiot for never firing the gun before the incident
She's lucky the round didn't cause any damage.

You're better off not having a firearm if you can't HIT WHAT YOUR SHOOTING AT.

3. Amen to that. Range time is an absolute must...
and as she gains increased comfort and confidence, hopefully, she'll look for a larger caliber weapon - something in the .38 caliber range that would have more effective stopping power. Although even a .32 is better than relying upon 9-1-1 and hoping that the police get there in time.......

4. Her pro choice decision to keep and bear arms for self-defense is admirable but her negligence in
not being properly training is deplorable.

IMO local LE should use the example to advertise their own citizen's handgun training course for self-defense, offered completely free at a very convenient range at convenient times.

If local LE doesn't have such a course, citizens should demand one.

9. more incoherency

Her pro choice decision

:wtf: How does that even make sense?

Just another sad attempt to exploit someone else's struggle.

It's a shame about the blanket, too.

She needs range time.

7. Those 32's aren't cheap
They're hard to find too. Don't waste the ammo shooting doors.

6. Take a combat course, read a book, hell something.
“I fired one round, then I shot out through the west door just to make sure they didn’t come back,” Nahmens said.

Lucky in more ways than I can count. I hope she learns from the experience.

10. she seems to need to consider several things

Only a few moments earlier, she had ignored a knock on her door from a young boy about 12 years old. But later, a shadow moving past her back window caused a gut feeling and not a good one.

Perhaps it isn't wise to give the impression that one's home is unoccupied.

That's why people leave radios and lamps on when they're out, I do believe.

“I fired one round, then I shot out through the west door just to make sure they didn’t come back,” Nahmens said.

... One bullet was recovered from a basket inside the garage and the second was never found.

I also believe that there are laws against this kind of misuse of a firearm, that she might want to look into before she kills one of her neighbours by "accident".

Since there’s no evidence anyone was shot, Nahmens won’t face any legal consequences and she said police who responded to her 911 call reassured her she did everything right.

Huh. I guess they don't have laws there against shooting wildly out the door in an attempt to shoot someone in the back. Or maybe the police just don't care to enforce them.

Next time somebody knocks on her door, maybe she'll consider saying "Who's there?" Might avoid hassle for herself and others.
