Sen. Gillibrand (D-NY) and Maloney split over gun control "orthodoxy..."
Edited on Wed Jul-15-09 03:10 PM by SteveM
There is a political split between newly-appointed Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and her rival for the 2010 election, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney. Part of the reason cited was Gillibrand's break from "liberal" "orthodoxy" which is supposed to include gun-control. According to Maloney, this makes Gillibrand too conservative for New York. Judging from the feminist support the incumbent is enjoying, the split may more imagination than reality. Discussion originally started on General: Presidential.

3. That's my Senator, and I'm damn proud of her.
I've met and talked with her. Incredibly bright, incredibly dedicated. Strong on all the important stuff: populism, public health care, gay rights, everything. I'm proud as hell.

"But, but, only right wing misogynists support gun rights. How can Planned Parenthood and NARAL endorse her!?!?!?1111?"

I expect at least one brain to divide by zero when it gets the news.

9. Don't loose heart yet.
Many gun owners were not in support of this measure either, so it's possible that she is in the same boat as they are.

Time will tell.
