Police: Spring Branch teen kills home intruder
A teenager shot and killed an armed intruder who broke into a Spring Branch home where the youngster was sleeping early Thursday, police said.
Houston police said they believe the shooting was a case of self-defense.
The incident happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. Thursday at a house that was being remodeled in the 9000 block of Kerrwood, northwest of Hammerly and Bingle.

Edited on Sat Jul-18-09 11:28 PM by Vinnie From Indy
post a dozen stories about INNOCENT victims of gun violence for the same 24 hr. period?

2. Feel free. That only further demonstrates the need for the law abiding to possess firearms...
and be trained in safe firearm handling. If they choose to exercise that right of course.

3. I'll take that bet, but only if the innocent victims were shot with guns that the shooter....
....aquired legally. That would be the only real comparison that would be even close to logical. And keep in mind that there are FAR more gun self defense stories where the gun is never used at all than where it is used. Far more than even the total homicide rate of this nation.

I just wanted to point those facts out before you really decided to go ahead with your bet. :P

4. You mean innocent victims of criminals. Why not just ban criminals?
And drugs and alcohol.

Oh, and gay marriage.

5. That's some bet.
It's too late for me to think of something clever, so I'll just say that that is one of the dumbest false equations I have seen online in a while.

8. The innocent victims have an unfair advantage
because they tend to pile up in twos, threes, fours or more per incident.

10. Must they die for you to count them? Getting shot hurts, and can cripple.
You might never bathe normally again.

You might forever need to wear a bag to accept the elimination of your waste.

11.  The case is being referred to
a Grand Jury without charges. Under Texas law if no charges are filed then there can be no civil suit filed( wrongful death). This is part of the Texas "Castle Doctrine" as the level of evidence for criminal charges is so much higher than for civil suits.
I do not expect charges to be filed in this case.
