http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2009/07/dealer-offers-ak47-with-each-new-truck-purchase.html

"A Missouri truck dealer hopes to reverse a nationwide slide in sales with a catchy offer: An AK-47 with every new truck purchase."

I doubt this thread is going to last long, because it's going to piss off a LOT of the gun-grabbers. I had to post it, because it makes me giggle with glee. First off, for you anti-gunners out there, it's not a real AK-47, it's a semi-automatic clone; it can not and will not shoot automatic. Secondly, the person with the voucher still has to go to a licensed dealer to pass a background check. Of course I know I know, you antis hate anything semi-automatic.......ESPECIALLY if the rifle looks cool.....the cooler it looks, the more "bling" it has on, the more you want to ban it. I'm nearly pissing myself with excitement about the complaining that's about to follow........so...with out further ado...let the bitching begin...

3. In America? Yes.
In the state of California, they had gun registration on "assault weapons", and then years later had people turn in certain ones. In the state of New York, they are currently trying to pass legislation that makes people turn in their registered .50 caliber rifles.

And what percentage of the total number of firearms in circulation?

5. I don't know what the numbers are.
But what does it matter? They had people turn in their legally bought firearms that they spent their hard earned money on. That's confiscation, plain as day. I'd like to see gun-grabbers try to pass federal gun turn-in legislation and see how well that works out on a national level; just to see what kind of response you get from peope that have thousands of dollars invested in their collections.

22. Very few if any - The state has an evidenciary (sp?) problem with the confiscation order
Edited on Mon Jul-20-09 10:42 AM by slackmaster
Everyone who got the confiscation letter from the DoJ also received one saying their rifle was legally registered. The state would look very stupid in court if it tried to press the issue.

26. Close to 100% of the ones that were registered were turned in
If you lose your job, that is only one person and a small percentage of the population, but to you that is everything.

If one class of registered guns can be confiscated then all of them can eventually be dealt with the same way.

7. Conceal & Carry, as well as Open Carry, refers...
...to handguns. Regardless of what the Brady Campaign says, you can not run around with rifles strapped to you. And, just for your reference, when the Brady's say that people will be walking around with AKs now that handguns are allowed in D.C., they are lying, as there is no conceal & carry or open carry allowed in D.C.

24. Except it's not hyperbole if it's true.
There are people on this very board that promote the forced confiscation of all privately owned firearms, with harsh penalties for those who do not comply. The term "gun grabber" is sadly not hyperbole.

Anyone else notice something odd about a floundering business adding extra swag to a product they already know nobody wants?

Well, seems it's working to bring attention to the place. Whether this translates into actual money remains to be seen.

23. heh

His last stunt was buy one get one free -- pickup trucks, that is.

What's of note, though, is the swag selected.

I would have thought he'd do better if he were offering vouchers for a month's worth of groceries with every truck purchased.

Either he has an agenda, or his potential customers really would rather have guns than butter.

I tend to the former notion, myself.

Interesting how the dealership owner himself refers to it as an AK-47 in every single interview/article I have seen/read about this, eh?

Somebody really needs to give that man a good talking to.

Interesting, too, what a right-wing piece of shit he reveals himself as at every opportunity.

"This is about the right of defending me and my family," said Mr Muller, a 49-year-old father of three. "I have a loaded gun in my pocket now and one in the glove locker of the car with a 12-round clip in it. My wife also carries a weapon."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/5865721/US-car-dealer-offers-free-Kalashnikov-with-every-purchase.html

Asked why an automatic weapon with a 30 or 60-round magazine was required for self-defence, he cited the case of the Florida couple recently shot dead in their homes by a gang of six robbers.

"I don't know a single shotgun would have worked for them. With an automatic they might have died, but they would have taken some of the bastards down too," he said.

how completely fucked up his brain is.

(a) It isn't an automatic, right?

(b) Whatever it is, it really isn't any good for spray-firing or otherwise shooting lots of people in short order; if it was, the "assault weapons ban" wouldn't have been such a joke, right?

It must be galling to have such morons/assholes on your side!

41. A repeating shotgun would have worked fine; a single-shot, not so much.
Edited on Wed Jul-22-09 11:12 AM by benEzra
And "spray firing" non-automatics is for B grade action movies; rifles and shotguns ARE easier to aim than handguns, though. I do shoot a civilian AK myself, remember.

Still, if one was going to construct a box that would be difficult to get out of, that home invasion would be it. Perimeter sensors and a safe room would have worked for a small family, but not if you have 9 special-needs kids in the house to round up; still, he and his wife couldn't have fared worse if they were armed, and might well have fared better, who knows.

FWIW, the victims in that case were killed with a pistol; the invaders also had a pump-action shotgun. Police haven't said what else, if anything, they had.

Its dangerousness is what makes it useful as a tool. However, its lack of power does place restrictions on its effectiveness in some circumstances.
