For Democrats, Gun Control Fades From Agenda
Edited on Wed Jul-22-09 08:09 PM by virginia mountainman
Good read from CBS...

A decade ago, the calculus was simple: Those who wanted greater gun control aligned with the Democrats. And those who wanted fewer restrictions on guns turned to the Republicans.

No longer.

And it gives is an opportunity for some Schadenfreude!

"It's been a very difficult period," Peter Hamm, of the Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence, told Hotsheet. "It's been frustrating that in the first six months of a Democratic administration with a Democratic Congress, that Congress hasn't seen fit to go in the right direction on the gun issue."

Peter, I and many other Americans disagree...We are moving in the right direction on the gun issue.

And Notice, that the Anti Civil Rights republicans had their hands in the mix too...

In fact, it fell to two Republicans, George Voinovich of Ohio and Dick Lugar of Indiana, to effectively prevent the amendment from passing.

New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg (R) called the amendment, sponsored by South Dakota Republican John Thune, "about as anti-police, pro-gun trafficker piece of legislation that has ever come before the United States Senate."

Folks we are winning!!! Lets keep the pressure on! Our years of hard work are bearing fruit!

Let us continue to cause great heartburn to the Sarah Brady and her minions!

3. Huh... Less than zero.
Go figure.

Gun Control is such a losing issue for the Dems, but there are those who want to hold onto it like it's a flotation device in the middle of the Atlantic. Not a flotation device. An Anvil. Big difference.

4. Yep...And they IGNORE this fact about it..
The gun control movement, is LEAD by Republicans...

They cannot ask themselves this simple qestion..

"Why would a Republican, want a Democrat, to take a Politically Suicidal position?"

Sara Brady (R) Founder of the Brady Campaign, also in control of the Million Mom March

Paul Helmke (R) President of the Brady Campaign

Mike Bloomberg (R) President of the "mayors against illegal guns" group..

Awfull lot of good Democrats, take their marching orders from Republicans...

5. Yep... We're not talking about disarming criminals here...
That's never been Gun Control's agenda. They want to disarm law-abiding citizens, to make the vulnerable MORE vulnerable. Quite Republican of them, if you ask me.

Sara Brady (R) Founder of the Brady Campaign, also in control of the Million Mom March

donates hundreds of dollars to Republicans like Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Ted Kennedy, the Democratic Party ...

Oh. Oops.

I wish I could invite some Republicans over to ask them their opinion of the Republicanism of Michael Bloomberg.

Anyhow, will you be the person to present PROOF of your allegation that Sarah Brady is now, and/or has been in any recent year, a member of the Republican Party?

The challenge has been out there for a long time. There will be beer for the one who meets it!

11. in my neverending curiosity

this time about why anyone who spends so much time yammering about a person would not bother to spell her name right -- it's SARAH Brady, not SARA -- I found this, and offer it for everyone's amusement.

That's AWFUL. Not AWFULL. Yeesh. Awful indeed.

Who are these good Democrats taking their marching orders from Republicans? Please, names.

From whom do you take your own?

(Anyone who might think that last question is loaded: use your noggin.)
