Police: Asheville Firefighter Shot Bicyclist
Officers Say Pair Argued Over Child Safety

A driver, now identified as an Asheville firefighter, shot a bicycle rider because he was angry the man was riding with his child on a busy road, Asheville police said.
...
Officers said the victim was riding with his wife and had his 3-year-old son in a child seat attached to his bicycle when a driver approached him.
...
Diez pulled a gun and opened fire, hitting the victim in his bicycle helmet, according to police.

They said the bullet penetrated the outer lining of the helmet but did not actually hit the victim's head.
...
On Monday, they confirmed he has been placed on paid investigative leave pending the outcome of this investigation.

I guess Diez was just exercising his 2nd Amendment rights?

1. Aren't you one of those people who want only government employees to have guns?
Pardon me if I'm mistaken.

6. Stop calling questions "assumptions."
In order for what he said to be a true assumption, he would have had to state it as a matter of fact, not framed in the form of an actual question.

11. How about prosecute the criminal to the full extent of the law?
That would be my recommendation.

10. he could actually have been defending himself

Nobody seems to know or be saying at the moment.

Not that I'd likely agree that a gunshot was a necessary means of defence, just as it so often isn't, but I'd prefer to see a report of the incident that actually does seem to make sense.

As for "authorities" having firearms -- I know that I, for one, have never ever suggested that members of police services should be authorized to carry firearms in public when not on duty, and in fact have specifically said that I would oppose that, if it were ever for some reason an issue in Canada. Which it isn't.

Firefighters? A little personal experience and a lot of stories ... as a group, not people I'd single out as being better risks for gun-toting than the average. Why a firefighter would have had a firearm while on duty -- why he would have been permitted to, if that were the case -- phew.

12. Trinity: "Dodge This."
Now she knew how to make a proper headshot.

Honestly. They'll let Anyone have a gun.

There should be courses so that people can use their guns for their intended purpose correctly.
