Former Handgun Control Inc. president defeated in Manhattan ..
BELLEVUE, Wash.--(Business Wire)--
Yesterday`s primary defeat of career anti-gunner Richard Aborn in his race to
become Manhattan`s District Attorney shows that even residents of a city with
some of the strictest gun laws in the nation reject the gun control philosophy
espoused by Aborn and those who supported him, the Citizens Committee for the
Right to Keep and Bear Arms said Wednesday.

Aborn, a former president of Handgun Control Inc. - now known as The Brady
Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence - ran primarily on his gun control record. He
collected only 26 percent of the vote.

"Keeping guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens may appeal to demagogues
like New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy," noted
CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, "but it doesn`t play well with average citizens
who are tired of being victimized, not only by criminals, but by the very laws
that people of Aborn`s ilk have forced on them.

"Richard Aborn had the endorsement of the Brady Campaign, Million Mom March, New
Yorkers Against Gun Violence and other anti-gun-rights organizations," he added.
"We hope that his rejection sends a message to other gun control extremists that
voters have had enough rhetoric and are fed up with restrictions on their gun
rights."

Gottlieb said Aborn`s last-place finish in the three-way race, which was won by
attorney Cy Vance, is a repudiation of the gun prohibitionist philosophy he has
represented over the past 17 years.

2. This guy had a lot of the old guard pulling for him
Katrina vanden Heuvel even lauded his campaign and his gun-control background in The Nation.

6. Or our country can be surprisingly intelligent...
Handgun Control Inc. and the Brady Campaign have been pushing propaganda to gain support for their position for years. It worked at first, but I think the turning point occurred when Florida decided to issue concealed carry licenses.

Handgun Control Inc. and other anti-gun groups immediately predicted Florida would turn into the the Wild West with shootouts at every intersection and constant gun fights in every neighborhood.

Well it didn't happen. Other states started to pass "shall issue" laws for concealed weapons similar to Florida. The anti-gun groups tried the same scare tactics in every state but right now a majority of states have "shall issue laws.

And of course there was the famous "plastic gun" lie published by the anti-gun organizations when the Glock pistols first were sold in he states. This was a firearm that was undetectable by X-ray machines at airports and if it were not banned, it would lead to aircraft hijackings on a regular basis. Total bullshit. Today Glock pistols are extremely popular with law enforcement agencies.

The surprising part is that Handgun Control Inc., the Brady Campaign and all the other anti-gun organizations failed so miserably. They had the full cooperation and support of the main street media. I watched numerous TV reports on the assault weapons ban where fully auto assault rifles were shown. The fact that assault weapons are semi-auto not full auto was ignored.

Perhaps lies and deceit are the wrong way to gain support from the American people. after a while, they wake up.

Abraham Lincoln is attributed as saying You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.

7. But you have to admit the fact that Richard Aborn..
had "the endorsement of the Brady Campaign, Million Mom March, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence and other anti-gun-rights organizations." His big campaign issue was gun control. Had this issue resonated with New Yorkers, he would have garnered more than 26% of the vote and he would have finished higher than last place.

11. More gun control in NYC is coals to Newcastle
I don't think the result shows NYC voters have turned against gun control as such, but given that NYC already has some of the tightest restrictions on private gun ownership in the country, I can well imagine that the voters aren't impressed with the notion that the key to improving the criminal justice system is yet more gun control.

12. If I lived in New York, City I would think that it was time...
to try something different. I would be very irritated that the rich, powerful and influential get to carry concealed while the average citizen can't.

The Post compiled a list of some notable people with gun permits: Donald Trump and Donald Trump Jr.; Howard Stern; Don Imus; lawyers Barry Slotnick and Raoul Felder; Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno; news anchor John Roland; Tommy Mottola; Ronald Lauder; Robert DeNiro; and Harvey Keitel.

Explain to me why these people get to carry concealed in NYC while other citizens with a clean record can't.
