Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus Members Sign 2nd Amendment Court Brief
Monday, November 30th, 2009 at 9:00 pm

Washington, DC --(AmmoLand.com)- Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC) Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and Caucus Vice-Chair Sen. Jon Tester, along with CSC House Vice-Chair Rep. Mike Ross, and Rep. Mark Souder, joined together with 58 Senators and 251 House members in filing a bipartisan, bicameral amicus curiae brief asking the Supreme Court to hold the Second Amendment applicable to the states through the Fourteenth Amendment in the case McDonald v. City of Chicago.

“The Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus really stepped up to the plate in further protecting our Second Amendment rights by working across party lines in filing this landmark brief,” said Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation President Jeff Crane.

The McDonald v. City of Chicago case will decide whether the Second Amendment is a fundamental individual right that applies to states in the same way the Supreme Court found that it applied to the Federal government in last year’s District of Columbia v. Heller decision.

****snip*****

Last year, members of the Caucus joined in the filing a similar amicus brief in the District of Columbia v. Heller case in support of the Court upholding the Second Amendment as a fundamental, individual right.

“Banning guns will not keep guns out of the hands of criminals, but it will keep guns out of the hands of those trying to defend themselves against criminals,” said Rep. Ross. “The Supreme Court’s recent decision in District of Columbia v. Heller affirmed the right of D.C. residents to own and bear arms and I am optimistic these same rights will be extended to the law abiding citizens of Chicago and across the United States in McDonald v. the City of Chicago.

4. Why?
Based on what we're told all the time, they must all be shills for the NRA. <sarcasm>

The ones with a "D" after their name are particularly good shills at hiding their real GOP agenda - even from their voters.

It's gotta be getting harder and harder for gun control people to find any bright spots out there. Crime with guns is at a 20 year low, concealed carry in 48 states with no blood running in the streets. Record high gun sales with record low shooting deaths. It's not supposed to work that way.

But they still turn up to roll in the blood of the innocent, as if an oft convicted felon with a gun shooting cops in an ambush is the equivalent of a law abiding citizen with a concealed carry permit.

6. WOOT! YOU JUST MADE MY DAY!!!!! Senator Russell D. Feingold (WI, D) FTW!!
I was hoping to see his name included on this list. He's been coming around on the firearms issue for a few years now, and I'm glad to see he continues to go in the right direction!!!

Sorry, he's my favorite Senator, and not just because he represents my state, and I would have been very disappointed if his name hadn't been on there. :)

7. This must be an NRA hoax!!! You can't fool us!
We all know that no pro gun issue would ever have any "real" Democrats supporting it.

(Glad to see my Rep. Halvorson supporting it. She got some solid support from the NRA and the Illinois State Rifle Assn. in the last election too. I expect her to get it again next year.)

Somebody book mark this for the next idiot that tells us that "All real Dems are for gun control".

9. We seem to have a lot of "newbies" here
from time to time.

I think they came of age when Clinton was in office and actually think that they were the standard for all Dems for all time.

They have no idea what Kennedy or Humphrey stood for and think that Dem party history started the day they graduated from High School. They are annoying little twerps for the most part and think they can define who is and isn't a real Dem.

Sucks to be them these days.

14. Don't feel too bad
The signatories from Washington state are the three Republican representatives; neither of our senators (both Dems) and none of our Democratic reps, even though at least two of them (including my own) get passing grades from the NRA-PVF.
