Woman who shot man at bus stop won't be charged
Edited on Tue Dec-01-09 06:52 PM by RamboLiberal
A woman who shot a man in the chest in downtown Seattle in April was acting in self-defense and won't be charged with a crime, King County prosecutors said Tuesday.

The 26-year-old man was shot in the chest but rushed to Harborview Medical Center and survived his wounds.

The shooting took place after a bump on a Metro bus escalated into angry words, obscene gestures, and, finally, the man charging the woman even though she showed she had a gun.

Prosecutors said in the statement that that Sara Brereton, 31, "acted in defense of herself, her children and her partner" by using "her legally licensed handgun."

What a dumbass to charge a woman holding a gun and yeah she was a bit at fault. When you carry a gun you gotta learn to calm down a bit yourself & not do something like make an obscene gesture that can spark further confrontation.

1. No excuse for him either.
"...make an obscene gesture that can spark further confrontation."

No matter what she said or gestured, it's no excuse for a physical attack. As a famous author once wrote:

"'Incitement to Riot' is no excuse for a riot."

Virtual drink to the first person to ID author and book...

3. Making obscene jestures at other Americans has become normal in this country lately.
I get real sick of people thinking it cool to give the finger to someone based on a perceived slight then they step on the accelerator and speed away. Who raised these people anyway? Oh ya.

9. Blow them a kiss.
On second thought, don't. Based on the reactions I've seen to date, it might increase the chances of an altercation.
