Colorado State Univ Student Leaders Vote To Keep Their Guns.
http://www.denverpost.com/ci_13913814

Summary: CSU has always allowed students with Concealed Carry Permits (CCP)to carry on campus. Following the VT shootings, that policy was reconsidered. Various so-called safety experts testified that the campus should be gun-free. The student senate voted, 21 for, 5 against, 8 absent or abstain, in support of a resolution asking school president Tony Frank to continue the present policy.

CSU's Board of Governors discussed the issue this morning (Friday Dec 4) and voted unanimously to recommend to Frank that he ban guns on campus. The final decision rests with Frank.

Several colleges in the U.S. allow CCW on campus and Utah prohibits public colleges from banning CCW on their campuses.

1. true story....
Edited on Fri Dec-04-09 07:55 PM by mike_c
A student once approached me after class-- it was a laboratory session-- and informed me that he ALWAYS had a CCW and that I could call on him if necessary to "take someone down." He was a retired LA cop (disability)-- a middle aged man, not a kid.

I thanked him, but assured him that it wasn't likely.

2. Aaaah. The hero mindset. Why did he have to even bring it up except to stroke himself.

3. By that single incident, do you mean to impugne the millions who carry peacefully?
Are you aware that the statistics show that CCW holders, as a group, are ten times more law-abiding than the general public?

4. I did no such thing....

I merely related a true story that the OP recalled, and that's relevant to the story about students carrying on campus. Choose your own meaning.

5. Then what is your purpose in posting a story that shows a CCW person in a bad light? N/T

6. did you ever sit and swap stories with someone....
They relate something that happened to them, which reminds you of something that happened to you, that reminds them of a similar event, etc.?

The guy made an impression on me, so I related the story in context. It IS apropos the OP. One could just as easily argue that I had a hidden agenda to cast ex-cops in a bad light, or middle aged men. In truth, he was a bit of a twitchy dude, and THAT was his problem, not his carry permit.

Sheesh. Chill.

7. Likely? No, of course not. Possible? Only if you actually watch the news...
and live in the real world.
