Pizza delivery woman fatally shot after call to vacant apartment
JACKSONVILLE, Florida -- A Jacksonville pizza delivery woman was killed by two men who called her to deliver at a vacant apartment.

Police say it was the second such incident in the area in the past few days. On Thursday, a driver had a gun thrust in his stomach but wasn't shot.

The driver killed Friday night wasn't immediately identified. Police were still searching for the men who lured her there and shot her in the chest, just steps from her van.

A neighbor who rushed to help said the woman took a few breaths, then went unconscious. She was pronounced dead after being transported to Shands Jacksonville Hospital.

It was Jacksonville's 100th homicide in 2009, an improvement over last year. In 2009 the city had 144 killings.

not saying she didn't But I think if that sall they wanted she could of atleast got away with her life instead of being shot in the back by some starving, petty, murderous, crooks, seem like she tried to resist.

7. I can't imagine any delivery person would resist with a gun pointed at them.
My guess is these fuckers killed her without offering her any options.

5. The gun grabbers would think she's morally superior
She didn't use a evil gun to defend herself.

When a delivery person uses a gun to defend them self, the cry heard far and wide is that no life is worth a large pizza and a few bucks. Just give the thug what he wants.

15. They do in several states
But that didn't stop Pizza Hut from firing some delivery people from defending their life with a gun.

In Iowa

A Pizza Hut delivery driver with a valid handgun permit has been fired after he shot an armed robber who put a gun to his head and demanded he turn over his cash. Now an Iowa state senator is calling for a boycott of Pizza Hut:

33. They are afraid of the liability lawsuit from a bad shoot.
It is pure cover-your-ass, never mind about the delivery person. If they allow their people to be armed, they are implicitly assuming responsibility for their actions.

6. Pizza places need to start taking Credit Cards Only...
You order the pizza on the phone, and pay for them before the Driver ever leaves. It's the only way to keep a lot of these people safe... if they don't have any cash on them, there is no way to rob them.

14. Then maybe you buy Pizza Gift Cards or use Visa Cash Cards?
I don't know.. but something needs to be done so that these people don't have to be out with cash on them - they're way to big of targets unfortunately...

8. You have to wonder what is wrong with people who can so cold bloodedly take another life
and why it is so easy for people to get guns in this country. I was going to say this is inhuman but most animals kill for food--these punks kill for the joy of it.

29. You could have left it at the subject line
The problem in this instance were the people willing to kill someone over a couple of dozen dollars and a few chain-store pizzas. This kind of person has the nasty tendency to acquire firearms no matter how tightly you restrict legal ownership, because as long as there's a criminal demand for firearms, some asshole will supply them. The criminal element in western Europe has no trouble getting any kind of small arm or light weapon when they want one; at best, western European criminals are more reticent about killing people who aren't business competitors, but that's rapidly getting less so, with the more ruthless Russian and Balkan elements moving in increasing numbers.

32. You may wish to check the posting rules...
Frankly, I WELCOME the chance to discuss the Second Amendment in General Discussion, in Latest Breaking, in Outdoors, in Gardening for Fun & Profit, in Studies of Japanese Heavy Cruisers in Late WW II Era, in ANY forum. In this manner, Second Amendment arguments can be made before the broadest possible audience in DU; as it stands, however, Guns Forum is WIDELY read. I am confident that more and more DU members will (and have) come to strongly support the Second Amendment, and re-claim 2A as a progressive stand.

But, there are rules.

30. That's awful.
Delivering pizzas was what led me to acquire my first concealed carry license, but in all honesty, it may not have worked at all in a sitation like this. Better to have it, than not, but if someone's just going to flat out shoot you with no warning, not a lot you can do.
