Yes I posted this in correct forum.

No safety glasses and perhaps no hearing protection. Doing this outside his home recently. BTW, some PA judge has barred Jon from having his gun at the house. Kate just got the house and primary custody of the kids.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. - A Montgomery County judge issues a court order after Jon Gosselin is seen shooting a loaded gun at his Berks County house.

Judge Arthur Tilson issued the court order Thursday in Norristown, Pa., after Jon Gosselin was photographed on Wednesday in Wernersville, Pa., shooting a .38 pistol on his property.

The judge also ordered Gosselin to register his pistol at a new address in Pennsylvania within 90 days.

Media sites caught Gosselin, 32, carrying the gun and then shooting it on the vast property at the estate owned by Jon and Kate Gosselin.

Is the judge a doofus as well? I know of no gun registration in PA except for the State Police illegally keeping gun purchase records. Could the judge been talking about a LTCF if Jon has one?

1. "Jon Gosselin is seen shooting a loaded gun at his Berks County house."
as opposed to shooting an unloaded gun?

2. If it is a .38 it doesn't eject the casings.
Very few people use safety glasses for informal shooting, and especially if the gun is a revolver. .38s aren't that loud.

5. I think the poster assumed since story said .38 it was a revolver

Pics clearly show a semi-auto. And as I posted below at all times shooters should wear eye protection. It's not just casings that can come back and hit you in the eye.

4. Look at the pic - it's a semi-auto
Edited on Fri Dec-18-09 06:58 PM by RamboLiberal
It ejects casings. Don't know if reporter got the caliber wrong or if it is a .38 - there are semi-autos in that caliber - mostly used by competition shooters.

And I was taught to wear safety glasses shooting any gun. Just in case of not only ejecting cases but in case of a catastropic failure of the gun, ricochets, powder, etc coming back in to shooters face. BTW I've had everything from mud, stones, and pieces of the bullet come back and hit me on a body part when on the range - that's why eye protection at all times when shooting.

I don't know what shooters you hang out with but every informal shooter I know won't go on the range without safety glasses and those that do if another shooter is around are told they need glasses. Spectators too must wear glasses if on the range.

Backyard plinkers as well need glasses and hearing protection or they are doofuses like Gosselin.

6. It might have been a S&W Model 52 target pistol...

This extremely accurate firearm fires only .38 special "wad cutters". S&W dropped production of this firearm in 1993.

It could also be a .38 super semi-auto.

EAA WITNESS POLYMER FULL SIZE

Probably the reporter merely didn't know the difference between a 9mm and a .38.

Back of slide looks square without a hammer. I bet the reporter got caliber wrong.

One photo I saw is him coming out door with what looks like a yellow 250 round box of UMC ammo.

10. If I had to guess, I'd say that MAY be a Grendel P12 .380 ACP...
Edited on Fri Dec-18-09 07:58 PM by benEzra

or possibly a P10 (non-removable mag version that preceded the P12), since the reporter called it a ".38" (a lot of reporters don't know that .38 and .380 are not the same when speaking of guns). The gun in the photo appears to be a little stubby ahead of the trigger guard, and note the angle of the back of the slide of the gun in Jondude's hand. It's certainly not a .38 of any description. And if it's indeed a Grendel (Pliestocene ancestor of the Kel-Tec), then he's pretty definitely not a gun enthusiast, given his financial means.

It could also be a Sig-Sauer, which is a much more expensive (and much nicer) pistol.

It's very hard to judge size from the grainy pic, though, and I have no idea how big Jondude is or how big his hands are. Could even be a small Glock (G19/26) except the back of the slide and the slide-frame proportions don't look right.

Gun trivia, the P10 was one of the very few pistols manufactured since the 1890's that used clips instead of magazines. So if someone referred to needing "clips" to reload their P10, they were actually not being an idiot.

14. Amazing, my first two thoughts were
Kel-Tec, probably P11, and then Sig 229 or maybe 239, it looks kind of skinny and short.

We should start a pool on what it is then e-mail him and ask.

11. "vast property" and "register at a new address"
Sounds like the judge is just mad that he got interrupted on his way to a dick meeting. I'm pretty sure that based on what little is in that article that the judge is totally fucked and somehow has no idea what he is talking about. If he is shooting on large enough proerty to be safe, it's no one's business but his own. And whether or not it's doofus material to shoot without glasses (it is) or visible hearing protection (might have plugs in, kind of a poor picture. I know for sure that isn't a .38 though) as long as he is being safe in his choice of targets and backstop then more power to him.

12. Their is so much BULLSHIT in that artical...
First off, how can a Judge, in Pennsylvania, ORDER someone to register their gun?? THEIR IS NO GUN REGISTRATION IN PENSYSLVANIA....

Rifles and Shotguns

•Permit to purchase rifles and shotguns? No
•Registration of rifles and shotguns? No
•Licensing of owners of rifles and shotguns? No
•Permit to carry rifles and shotguns? No

Handguns

•Permit to purchase handgun? No
•Registration of handguns? No
•Licensing of owners of handguns? No
•Permit to carry handguns in Public? Yes

Secondly, if Jon is not a felon, and as long as he was not shooting his gun in an unsafe manor, NO CRIME WAS COMMITED... The article mentions he has "vast property"...So he most likely has a good spot to shoot his pistol in a safe manor.

This whole article reeks of BULLSHIT.... Near total fabrication... It is like something some of the Anti-gunners in here would post, so full of basic factual holes, you could drive a locomotive thru them. AS noted about the 38 revolver, what a DUMBASS...where's his email...

Fucking Faux News...

16. Negative, Killadelphia keeps trying to implement it and various weapons bans
and they keep getting it stuffed right back up their retarded asses. The Attorney General repeatedly told mayor Nutter that his schemes were unconstitutional and illegal under PA state law, and that she would not defend them in court. He kept trying anyway.

17. My picture was too small to tell what it was.
So I went with what the article said. I am aware that there are some .38 auto-loaders, they are so rare that they are almost non-existant.

With the blow up of the picture, (Thanks) it is obvious that it isn't a revolver.

A range does require shooting glasses and hearing protection. But the fact is that many shooters, when shooting in the open, forego the glasses. I personally don't bother with hearing protection unless I am shooting above .38SP or Magnum of any caliber, or am firing indoors. Since I wear corrective lenses that are hardened, I use them for everything.

From 22 up really doesn't value their hearing.

18. As if more evidence beyond 'pimping out your kids to reality TV' was
needed to prove doofus-osity in this case... :)

Is it possible that the 'registering' thing is somehow related to the divorce proceeding?
